The 16’ Souhegan has much in common with its little brother the Tennesean. Its flat-bottomed profile combined with a keel running the length of the boat makes for a canoe that tracks extremely well empty or loaded on flat water or in mild currents, making it an ideal lake and cabin canoe for time spent with the family on the water, while stepping up the total capacity compared to its smaller sibling. Superbly stable, this is the ideal choice for those with younger children or pets joining them on canoe adventures, and offers sufficient carrying space for a long weekend trip without resupply.
Despite its capacity and stability, the Souhegan still comes in at less than 60 pounds. Composites like Fiberglass (in our Classic Layup) and Kevlar/Carbon Fiber (in our Expedition layup), are expertly put together under a striking gel coat to create a perfect blend of weight, rigidity, and durability, and then finished off with stunning Cherry ribs to add an additional helping of both beauty and strength. Hardwood ash and cherry appointments from the gunnels to the yoke round out the canoe, lending it a timeless look that will hold up for years to come.
